Anna Andreu

ANNA
ANDREU

It only took five minutes for Anna Andreu to start writing what became the first seed, the origin and the starting point of La mida, her second album. An impulsive and determined writing that marked, in a way, everything that would come after. Anna Andreu returns again accompanied by Marina Arrufat to present eight songs that have immediately become perfect successors to the peculiar style that caracterizes them and that caught our attention in Els Mals Costums. La mida is an album that, from the utmost prudence, murmurs about ways to contain itself, the limits and preambles, the outbursts and the consequences of already known landscapes. A reflection on ‘measure’, going through all the nuances that the word offers. Just listen to the first seconds of Penyora, the song that opens La mida, to be able to say that Anna Andreu not only keeps her particular spell intact, but has been able to add elements that manage to make it flourish. Anna Andreu’s now recognizable guitar is now joined with synths and bass lines that join forces alongside the drums and Marina Arrufat’s second vocals. All this is balanced by Jordi Matas, who repeats as producer of this second album. The songs of La mida jump from idea to idea, word to word and find their common nexus in emotions, hidden and mysterious and sometimes tense and outrageous. With temperance and subtlety, Anna Andreu once again gives us the beauty of her lyrics and songs, without great artifice, but with the ability to make an impact where words move most. Now these songs belong to all of us and we can only enjoy and embrace them, being aware of the great treasure we have in hand.
