It is curious how the songs of a group can accompany you in such a faithful way during the years of your life. How can they draw some stages, close others and let memories and new illusions take shape. Germà Aire’s music is one of those, one that narrates existence, perhaps one that makes everything a little kinder. Since it all started with Mates Mates, Luca and Andreu have not stopped creating stories, accompanied by the already inherent Gudi and Joan. A path that began in 2014 with the publication of Ball del cel, where they laid the foundations of his poetry and with Semper, second album released in 2018, was consolidated musically with a more defined line that ended up outlining the group personality. Now, at last, Gornal arrives. Gornal was the house of Ramon Genís, the name of a farmhouse located in Gurb. For more than ten years it was the rehearsal space for Germà Aire and also for Mates Mates, L’Hereu Escampa, Furguson, Bonestorm and others. A name that carries a whole declaration of intent, a tribute to what is no longer there, but which lasts forever. Gornal’s nine songs travel through time, light, human perception and space. They show that we are insignificant beings in the midst of great immensity and that we really do not understand anything about what is happening around us. A look at the environment and human behavior from distant, pure, animal and basic points of view. It doesn’t matter what’s going on, it just exists.

Gornal was recorded at the Teatre de Ca l’Eril between August and September 2020, where Luca’s songs were completed with the production of Joan Pons and the help of Gudi, the Andreu and Joan. A production that is increasingly meticulous and curated, more concrete and more tailored to the words. Words that sing to the uncertainty caused by the great riddles of existence such as elementary particles, the limits of perception, time, the quantum world or the limits of space. Brother Aire continues to grow and advance. Growing in the formation of his identity, with a sound that is always recognized, that is familiar. I’m home.
